Our Story

Why Roots Bible Church?

It begins with our mission which is the shared mission of the church of Jesus throughout the world made up of all true believers. That mission is known as the Great Commission which is simply a command of Jesus to make disciples of all nations (peoples/ethnicities). We like to word our mission like this:

The mission of Roots Bible Church is to make disciples of Jesus of all ages, at all stages, and in all places by clinging to the foundation of the Word of God, our roots.

  • A disciple is someone who is on the journey of walking with and becoming like Jesus.

  • Wherever we are on the journey (any age or stage), we ought to continue moving forward in obedience and in becoming like Jesus

  • As a church, we want to help identify where people are on the journey and participate in encouraging and supporting their next step

  • “Roots” describes our vision for making authentic, lifelong disciples of Jesus.
Psalm 1 describes the blessing of being deeply rooted in the Lord’s instruction (God’s Word). Scripture should be delighted in, meditated upon day and night, and applied because God’s Word is the source of true life and joy. The Bible declares that those who do this are like trees planted by flowing streams that bear fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. We long to see this rootedness in God’s Word become reality as a church of disciples of Jesus.

  • “Bible” declares that our hope, joy, and confidence is God’s Word.
Because our roots are specifically in God’s Word, the Bible. The Bible serves as our ultimate authority, exceeding any denominational or personal opinions, convictions, and/or positions.

  • “Church” reminds us that we are God’s people who are united in His family.
We are a church which is a local expression of the grander universal church. We are people who have been saved by God’s grace and received by faith in Christ alone for salvation. As such, we are adopted sons and daughters of God and are part of the family of God. We get to worship Him together!

Psalm 1:2-3

2 Instead, his delight is in the LORD’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night. 3 He is like a tree planted beside flowing streams that bears its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.

Colossians 2:6-7

6 So then, just as you have received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to walk in him, 7 being rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, and overflowing with gratitude.
