Who Are We?
Roots Bible Church is a local fellowship (Church) of Christians (disciples of Jesus) who aim to glorify God in who we are and in all that we do.
Bible
The Bible is the fully inspired Word of God, without error in the original manuscripts. The Bible was given so that we might know God and His will for humanity. It is the final authority for the Christian faith and life. See especially: Psalm 19:7-10; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21.

Essential Beliefs

God
There is one God eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. See especially: Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14.
The Father: is fully God, He has no beginning or end, is self-existent and sovereign. He sent His Son, Jesus, to earth to accomplish the plan of salvation, and He draws people to His Son. See especially: Genesis 1:1; Exodus 3:14; John 6:44.
The Son, Jesus Christ: born of a virgin, is fully God and fully Man. He, the eternal Son of God, became like us to show us who God is and to save us. See especially: Matthew 1:18-25; Philippians 2:5-11; Colossians 1:13-22.
The Holy Spirit: is fully God. He works within sinners to bring about repentance and faith. He unites born-again believers with the Lord Jesus Christ and with one another. By His power, believers are being changed to become more like Jesus and are gifted to serve Him. See especially: John 16:7-15; Acts 11:15-18; Titus 3:4-8.
Humanity
God created men and women in His image for fellowship with Him, but the first man and woman fell into sin. As a result, all people are born separated from God, spiritually lost, and without hope apart from God’s intervention. See especially: Genesis 1:26-30; Genesis 3; Romans 5:12-21.
Life is sacred at every point from conception to death and worthy of being protected. See especially: Genesis 1:27, 9:6; Psalm 139:13-16.

Salvation
Every human has sinned. See especially: Romans 3:10-18, 23.
The penalty for sin is physical and spiritual death (separated from God). See especially: Isaiah 59:2-20; Romans 6:23.
As a result, every human needs to be rescued (salvation) from spiritual death. See especially: Ephesians 2:1-3; 1 Timothy 2:4.
Humanity’s only hope is Jesus, who died in our place and was raised from the dead so that we might be forgiven of our sins and have life with God eternally. See especially: John 3:16; Acts 4:12
Salvation is received by God’s grace, through faith in Jesus Christ alone. See especially: John 14:6; Ephesians 2:8-9.
The Church
The church is a spiritual body of believers in Jesus, with Jesus Christ as its Head. Believers form local congregations for worship, instruction, prayer, fellowship, and service, and ought to be united in purpose and bound together by Christ’s love. The mission of the church is to fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). See especially: Acts 2:42; Ephesians 2:19-22, 5:23; 1 Timothy 3:15.

Ordinances
Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are the ordinances to be carried out within each congregation. See especially: Matthew 28:19-20; Romans 6:3-11; Luke 22:14-22; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26.
Resurrection & Judgement
There will be a future, bodily resurrection of the dead. Believers will be raised to everlasting life with the Lord; resurrected unbelievers will be judged and sentenced to everlasting punishment. See especially: Matthew 19:28, 25:31-46; John 14:1-3; 1 Corinthians 15:24-58; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-12; 2 Timothy 4:1.

Sexuality
God created two sexes, male and female. All people are uniquely created by God with the biological sex He intended for them. See especially: Genesis 1:27-28; Genesis 2:7, 21-25.
Family
Biblical marriage is defined as a union between one man and one woman which is intended to be for life. Within marriage, God has defined distinct roles for both men and women. See especially: Genesis 2:24-25; Matthew 5:31-32; 1 Corinthians 7:1-16; Deuteronomy 6:4-9; Psalm 78:1-8; Ephesians 5:21-6:4.
